The AREX railway connects Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station. There are non-stop, express trains and commuter trains. The airport line shortens travel time between Incheon Airport and Seoul Station to a mere 43 minutes for non-stop, express trains and 53 minutes for commuter trains. The express train departs Seoul Station every 30 minutes and the commuter train every 6 minutes.

Express Train Fare: 14,300 won for adults
Commuter Train Fare: 4,050 won for adults
Subway tickets: 1000 won ($1USD)
The commuter train has two services; one from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport and the other from Seoul Station to Geomam Station. Travelers should check their destination before boarding. (Commuter trains alternate between Incheon Airport and Geomam Station.)

Taxis take about 60min, $80; Bus outside immigration takes 90min, $12.

things to do:

Gyeongbokgung Royal Banquet Hall (Jonggak metro stop) 9-5PM; 3000won/pp
free guided tour (at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm)
The “Palace of Shining Happiness.” Originally built in the 1500s, it was destroyed by the Japanese. It is in the process of a long reconstruction effort, but there is a lot to see at this point. The grounds are quite large, and there are also a couple of museums on the site (we didn’t visit the museums). You walk in through a series of massive gates, open courtyards, palace buildings, etc. until you reach a large, imposing structure (a former royal banquet hall) surrounded by a lovely (and photogenic) moat.

Insadong -souvenir market area (Jonggak metro stop)

Gwangjang - street food market
